3M™ Heavy Duty Vinyl Tape 472 is a thick vinyl tape coated with an aggressive rubber adhesive designed for heavy-duty surface protection and excellent abrasion resistance. Its unique stretch properties allow the tape to conform to irregular, curved, and convex surfaces while remaining securely in place without lifting after application. The high-tack rubber adhesive bonds aggressively to a wide variety of substrates and provides long-lasting adhesion, including up to one year in outdoor applications. The combination of the durable vinyl backing and aggressive adhesive helps maintain a secure bond in rugged indoor and outdoor environments. The thick backing makes 3M™ 472 an excellent choice for applications requiring protection against heavy abrasion, as well as sandblast and bead-blast overspray. The tape also resists many common solvents; however, it is not recommended for use on highly plasticized materials or prolonged exposure to ketones, chlorinated hydrocarbons, and esters.
