3M 4318 Urethane Foam Tape

3M™ 4318 is a charcoal gray, 1/8” thick, low-density, open-cell foam tape coated with an acrylic adhesive, offering excellent cushioning and high absorbency to seal out moisture, dust and drafts. The acrylic adhesive offers high initial tack to a wide range of surfaces and excellent shear holding strength, even at elevated temperatures.

3M™ Urethane Foam Tape 4318 is a charcoal gray, 1/8” thick, soft conformable, low-density, open-cell foam tape coated on one side with 3M™ Adhesive 430 and protected by a silicone-treated paper liner. The open-cell foam construction provides excellent cushioning and high absorbency, helping to seal out moisture, dust, and drafts under a wide range of temperatures. 3M™ 4318 features 3M™ Adhesive 430, a modified acrylic adhesive that provides high initial tack to a variety of substrates, along with excellent chemical resistance and strong shear-holding performance. The adhesive system maintains reliable performance at elevated temperatures, with short-term resistance up to 250°F (121°C) and long-term resistance up to 150°F (66°C).

Its open-cell foam construction is commonly used between component panels where a degree of separation is required to dampen or prevent vibration. The foam is also commonly used as a thermal insulation barrier and as a protective seal against dust and other contaminants in applications where airflow remains necessary, such as electronic assemblies that rely on air circulation for cooling.

3M™ Single Coated Urethane Foam Tape Series 4300 is available in 3 thicknesses: 125 mil, 375 mil, and 250 mil.
